Board approves Local School Funding Resolution
Board member Phil Pritzker presented a resolution (based on this model from the Illinois Association of School Boards) about education funding and the number and scope of unfunded mandates statewide. The Illinois General Assembly could be making significant decisions over the coming weeks and months to restructure the funding formula for all schools statewide.Since 2009, state General Revenue Funds for education have decreased $715 million, and could drop by nearly another $1 billion in the coming year.

Community Consolidated School District 21 urges the Illinois General Assembly to take immediate action to prioritize funding for education and to identify stable, predictable, reliable revenue sources for school funding while also eliminating unfunded mandates that draw resources away from helping students learn more and more deeply.

Focusing on Learning Despite Pressures & Mandates
Each year, School District 21 produces a video for the annual State of the Schools events. This video typically highlights key elements of the District's work at that time, and often times, these videos touch upon instruction, school finance, and legislation and policy. The 2013-2014 video highlights the pressures and mandates faced by all school districts in Illinois and across the country as well as School District 21's work on its Professional Learning Community Areas of Focus in spite of these pressures and mandates.
